Symphony Group Holds First-Ever ‘Wild Work Day’ with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to Protect Local Heritage

The Barnsley-based manufacturer of fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture, Symphony Group has recently taken part in a ‘Wild Work Day’ in association with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.  The charity works to protect Yorkshire’s wildlife and wild spaces, tackling various projects that are vital to maintaining Yorkshire’s natural heritage and ecosystems.  As a Gold Corporate Member of the Trust, Symphony regularly sends teams into the local community to assist with nature conservation projects.  Symphony Group’s first-ever ‘Wild Work Day’ took place at Carlton Marsh in Barnsley where the Trust has spent the last few years restoring a large area of scrubland back into its former diverse grassland habitat.

Symphony staff assisted with scrub control and helped to reduce tree cover to enable the grassland to flourish.  Carlton Marsh Nature Reserve is a vital wildlife site in the Dearne Valley and is a wetland nature lover’s delight.  Perfect for birdwatching, the 18-hectare site features plenty of walking trails, free parking and free entry.

Simon Collyns, sales and marketing director for Symphony Group said, “At Symphony, we take our commitment to sustainability and the environment extremely seriously.  Our staff really appreciated the opportunity to do something different, get outside into nature and contribute to an important community project.  The staff really enjoyed their Wild Work Day and were thrilled to have played a part in helping restore and rejuvenate this local beauty spot.”

Made to the most stringent quality standards, Symphony products are synonymous with quality craftsmanship. With its production facility here in the UK, all kitchens are built to last with furniture awarded full FSC® certification using wood from responsibly managed forests.
