Premier artisan lighting retailer rebrands to underscore exclusive partnership

With a new look and feel created to highlight its artisanal offering, award-winning lighting retailer The Light Yard has rebranded to become Gwyn Carless at The Light Yard.

Cementing a fruitful partnership which began in 2011, the retailer’s offering of bespoke hand-crafted lighting will now be made exclusively by Derbyshire-based master craftsman Gwyn Carless.

Since 2013, Carless and The Light Yard’s founder Jeff Fuller have worked together to build one of the north west’s most innovative businesses, with growing ranks of clients from luxury property homeowners to architects and interior designers to property developers.

With offices and showroom located in the historic Mather Lane Cotton Mill, Leigh, The Light Yard has furnished bespoke fixtures for commercial and residential builds across the UK, Europe and as far afield as the island of Maui in the US state of Hawaii.

Underscoring the company’s uniquely artisanal approach, the new brand will help to position the company for ongoing growth, as its profile grows both in the UK and internationally.

Jeff Fuller, whose client care philosophy stems from more than a decade spent in high-end hospitality, said: “Our rebrand reflects our absolute confidence, both in the excellence of our products and in the strength of our business model. We have huge players and household names coming to work with us, so we know that Gwyn’s traditional skills – and the glittering luminaires coming out of the studio – together with five-star client care and our environmentally responsible, waste-reducing practices are getting people’s attention. Customers are really responding to it.”

Gwyn Carless said: “Over years of working together, Jeff and I have created an organically creative enterprise, which amounts to what is essentially a customer-facing lighting workshop. Joining together as one unified brand seemed to be the natural next step. Client communication and collaboration are integral to every project, and we will do whatever we can to accommodate the client’s specification so the outcome is truly bespoke.”

Championing the use of energy-efficient, locally supplied components and sustainable materials for the lowest possible embodied and operational carbon emissions, Gwyn Carless at The Light Yard is one of the nation’s only lighting retailers to offer artisan IP44-rated pendant bathroom lighting, part of its acclaimed Alchemist collection.

To celebrate the company’s rebranding, a sleek new bathroom wall light has been launched. IP44-rated, the contemporary fixture is handcrafted from steel and brass, and will feature an LED filament bulb for a striking, minimalist look.
