While these are undoubtedly challenging times for everybody and it can be difficult even to know how to support your customers, it is important to remember that people are still buying and that as they are spending a lot of time at home, DIY and home improvements are now actually front of mind.
Consumers may not be able to physically visit a showroom at the moment but they are making online purchases. Installers are unlikely to be able to visit customer’s homes and usual services will likely seem expensive during what is a financially tricky time, so retailers will be looking at products that can give them the most margin and that have a consistent source of supply. Tiles are a good example, with a whole host of online how-to videos for consumers to tap into, enabling them to update their bathroom or kitchen while still supporting their independent retailer through this crisis.
