NTG UPDATE
Published:  29 March, 2012

The KBBNTG, KBSA, BMA and EQ Software together launched the new CPD (continuous professional development) workshops at KBB 2012 at the NEC this month. They are all excited at the development of training programmes specifically for the kbb sectors, as they are not brand-specific activities – but offer the designers a total market view – which research has shown is what they are asking for.

The inaugural Principles of Kitchen Design and Project Management 2-day CPD workshop is on 17/18th April at EQ’s head offices in Tamworth and reaction to date has been positive –  over 50% of the places have been reserved.

The inaugural Principles of Bathroom Design and Project Management 2-day  CPD workshop is on 2/3rd May.

The NTG are also delighted to announce that the following CPD workshops are  FULLY booked:

10/11th April – 2 day Kitchen Design with Sales and Customer Care

          30tnh April      - 1 day Bathroom Design

To date the previous workshops already held this year for Kitchen Design and Bathroom Design were full, as was the Advanced Kitchen Design workshop earlier this month.

Renée Mascari CEO of the NTG said, ‘We have come a long way from having nothing kbb specific 5 years ago, to today’s position where multiple courses and workshops are live, and new courses and qualifications being developed with the help of some of our industry partners and supporters. We developed an NVQ qualification in kitchen design some time ago but to have the course accredited by City and Guilds a guarantee uptake of 1500 candidates per year needs to be assured, this NVQ would suit both individuals and major retailers such as John Lewis, Ikea, B&Q and the like but to date there is no commitment to uptake, which is a shame.

‘It is gratifying that the work done to date has resulted in designers being able to upskill themselves, as the industry is now a fashion business, like most markets, designers need to prove they have the necessary skills. Continuous training and education is a must and until the KBB Industry takes the decision to engage in formal qualifications that are on offer to them, CPD learning is one way of improving knowledge and skills.’
