Claygate Distribution Ltd based in Marden has clearly made its mark within the South East and West Country. It has already outgrown its 115,000 sq ft premises, built only three years ago.
Recently, a new facility has been introduced to help Claygate’s staff and merchant trade customers to get to grip with its stock. The Training Room holds a number of products that Claygate sell, displaying them clearly for its customers to see.
By appointment basis only, The Training Room enables staff to extract the features and benefits of each product and relay them to their customers. Claygate also encourage manufacturer sales reps to visit the site and conduct presentations to sales staff, providing knowledge about their products.
Expansion is also prominent within Claygate’s warehouse. As of late last month, permission has been granted to extend stock storage space when it is necessary to accommodate new manufacturers. This will make more products readily available and increase orders. Although there will not be any jobs created from this, Claygate ensures that this will secure existing warehouse employees’ positions, especially if another recession arises. Claygate is clearly ‘bucking the trend’ and growing consistently, sending the message to other bathroom distributors that it is not all doom and gloom; there is a chance for them to aim for the same success.
