Hot Stuff From Hudson Reed
Published:  11 January, 2012

Twenty years ago two products came in off white or beige. Apple changed all that with their brightly coloured computers and now radiators have updated the heating market with designer products in a choice of materials and finishes to complement both modern and traditional décor.

Let’s face it, the beige radiator is still with us and whilst it may be a good and efficient source of heat, it won’t win any beauty contests.

In fact in many homes armchairs or settees are strategically placed to hide the radiator out of sight.

Happily today, sleek radiators in a choice of high gloss or matt black vie with anthracite grey, high gloss or matt silver. Of course white is still in the frame, but without the drips or orange peel paint finish that seemed to be par for the course in times past.

And as well as mild steel, radiators now come in aluminium, chromed brass and even stainless steel. There are new and exciting shapes on offer with flat, square, round and oval tubes to grace the home.

As well as wall mounted, floor standing radiators and towel warmers are on offer for the growing retro trend and many towel warmers have the option of electric heating elements where wet central heating may not be a convenient or cost effective option.

Tall slim radiators for kitchens or bathroom where space is at a premium, inset mirrors that won’t steam up and of course towel warmers for kitchen and bathroom - with or without inset radiators – the choice today means that home heating need never be boring again.
