The furniture door industry is driven by fashion and customers demand for new fresh designs and finishes. In these times of austerity and with the state of the housing market as it is, this is perhaps one of the saving graces for our industry. Companies that innovate and bring exciting new products to the market are creating demand through the customer’s desire for change and the change in styles and finishes is moving quicker all the time.
Gone are the days when yocan put stock on the ground and expect a range to sell for years, the demand for endless numbers of finishes designs and sizes mean that to truly stay ahead of the game and not be left with a warehouse full of out of date stock every order needs to be produced to order.
When customers are demanding shorter lead times this is where British manufactures can win, the companies that have invested in the equipment and technology to produce a batch size of one on a short lead-time have a distinct advantage over foreign competition. So for manufacturing companies that constantly innovate and provide the best service even in these times of austerity the future looks bright. There again I have always been a glass half full guy.
