Bathroom furniture has come a long way. It used to be far down the list of purchases for a new bathroom, with the emphasis on ceramics. Today though furniture and ceramics go hand in hand, showing just how far bathroom furniture has come. So far, in fact, that today the bathroom furniture market in the UK is said to be worth approximately £100m @MSP.
And there’s still great potential. At the end of last year, Ellis Furniture polled more than 7,000 consumers about bathroom furniture. Of those who took part, 61% said they did not have bathroom furniture but when it came to redoing their bathroom, they would love to have it.
Trends to watch include the growing popularity of modular furniture. Modular furniture ticks so many boxes including aesthetics, simplicity of designing the room and the great storage solutions it provides. Increasingly, consumers want their modular furniture to come complete with a basin and most are opting for a 600mm or 750mm wall hung modular basin and cabinet with large pull out drawer and mirrored wall unit above and they spend between £750 and £1,000 on such a design. The average consumer spends more on fitted furniture, at £1,500 per sale. For finishes, colour and wood are equally popular and people are mixing high gloss colours with natural wood grain.
