Know your customer needs’ and take advantage of every sales opportunity
Published:  26 September, 2011

Gary Hawkins of Impulse Bathrooms comments on the current market situation. Today’s bathroom market is not an easy one. It has certainly suffered during the Country’s economic downturn. However, the market now seems to be holding up and in these current trading conditions it is important to take advantage of every sales opportunity.

Keeping in tune with consumer desires means offering good ideas and the latest “must haves.”  The market is certainly moving towards more upmarket product with back-to-wall close coupled WC’s and wall mounted being the present growth areas – and soft close seats to go with them too.  Manufacturers are constantly introducing new designer styles with interesting shapes to help showrooms offer desirable new bathrooms.

There are also potential business opportunities in specialist areas such as live at home or inclusive design with raised height wasbasins and WC’s allowing more comfortable use for those who may be less mobile than they used to be.

But we advise sticking to good brands as your guarantee of customer satisfaction.  There are still a lot of cut price, poor quality ceramics out there on offer at silly prices.  Resisting temptation is usually the right decision as it is so easy to lose a hard earned reputation by selling just one or two inferior suites.

Offering what the customer wants, which also means introducing ideas they have not thought of, is the best route to a successful business.
