Blum continue the quest for perfection
Published:  22 August, 2011

Any visitor to the exceptional Blum stand at Interzum 2011 could not help but be caught up in the surge of a company building on past and present success to reach forwards and innovate on an incredibly exciting level.

Interzum had a great buzz this year with more UK visitors registered on the Blum stand than any of the previous 3 editions. This was in no small measure to the anticipation as Blum set out their highly professional exhibit along the theme of “Perfecting Motion” and this was indeed carried through the main thrust of products.

Most important for UK customers was the groundbreaking new Movento runner system (introduced specifically for wooden drawers) with unprecedented ease of glide due to the new synchronised running system and superb lateral stability. Four dimensional tool-free adjustment and dynamic carrying capacity of 40kg and 60kg are all standard. Naturally, Movento incorporates integrated Blumotion soft close.

Blum recognise the importance of motion perfection in three dimensions – the opening of furniture, the movement in between opening and closing, and the closing itself.

In terms of opening the electronic automatic opening system Servo-Drive was shown in an ever wider variety of applications in base units and on overhead Aventos lift systems. The mechanical auto-opening Tip-On was also on show.

Blum’s stalwart Tandem runner with integrated Blumotion still underpins the darwerbox and pull-out families but the addition of Movento makes marks a milestone of progress in this area.

From the point of view of door hinges the award winning Clip top Blumotion was exhibited in a greater variety of opening angles and options than ever before. Clip top Blumotion is a peerless piece of innovative engineering with the entire Blumotion mechanism encased in the hinge boss where it can be de-activated by the flick of a lever for light doors.

Other sections of the Blum stand were devoted to showing Blum products and systems in other areas of the home and commercial applications like bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, studies and offices.

Visitors to the stand will also have seen other new and exciting products due to come into production over future months as well as an intriguing “concept” product typical of Blum’s forward looking vision.

Apart from the main stand, Blum also participated in a special “show within a show” at Interzum called “Innovation of the Interior” with a spectacular exhibit where the products seemingly moved out of a shining metallic wall!
