Bellissimo goes with the grain
Published:  22 August, 2011

Bellissimo Furniture has launched a “sawtooth” finish which could mark the start of a major new trend in UK kitchens on the modern rustic theme. This is a more natural treatment of wood than the market has been used to recently. Instead of returning to the heavily knotted look, however, this modern rustic range resembles wood fresh from the sawmill, with strong texture and highly visible, non-linear grain.

First spotted by Bellissimo’s Managing Director Warnock Watson in solid timber in Milan, the modern rustic look has started to appear in veneered products, and now Bellissimo has given it wider appeal with a superbly authentic foil.

Initially offered in the two options of mid-oak and dark oak, this finish is available from Bellissimo in bespoke sizes, including curved doors and handle-less (and indeed curved handle-less).

Warnock Watson said: “This looks just like the real thing – it even had me fooled. I think it has the potential to dilute the dominance of walnut for those who want something contemporary but prefer woodgrain to high gloss solid colours.

“I’ve shown it to a few customers and consensus is that this could be the next big thing. People are always looking for something different, and the modern rustic style has really caught the imagination.”
