The Tile Association Awards celebrate all that is best in the wall and floor tile industry. Ones of most interest to your industry will be Best use of tile by a house developer which is open to any development of multiple homes or apartments. Many readers will work with small and large developers and TTA would welcome nominations for the 2012 awards in this category. Nominations do not open until the autumn.
For this award the judges consider the amount of tiling used but good design and clever use of tile is also important.
The winner of the 2011 award was 35-37 St Stephens Gardens, Westbourne Park in London by Stone & Ceramic Ltd. This project for LAD Construction was originally a five storey terraced house. The property has been developed into five separate apartments and outfitted to a very high specification. The apartment floors were laid with large format 900x450mm stone tiles in a honed finish. Communal staircases were supplied and installed in both porcelain and stone, incorporating a mitred front edge detail.
The runner up was Park House, Pinkstone Homes, Hale in Cheshire by Natural Stone Emporium Ltd. Natural Stone Emporium supplied and fitted over 95% of the tiling on the state-of-the-art 8,000 sq. ft. four story mansion, the £5 million Park House in Cheshire.
