Worksurfaces need to deliver greater product value by offering more features and better choice

The spectrum of worktop materials and its ability to provide a product most suitable for each customer’s requirements is never tested as rigorously as it is in harder times. Each product must endeavour to present greater value to the customer, which does not necessarily translate to cheaper products, but ones with more choice, more features, and more possibilities!

Laminate manufacturers have looked to the aesthetics of their products developing their ranges with colours and textures aiming to offer the kitchen designer a host of options.  Similarly, solid surface products are always adding new colours to their existing ranges.  While the number of décors offered pales in comparison to those offered in laminate, the features of solid surface as a worktop material have allowed retailers to position these worktops as a ‘trade up’ from laminates.

The popularity of Solid surface worktops continues to increase, with homeowners looking at the way in which they retain their high quality appearance with simple maintenance. The long-term resilience of this type of surface demonstrates the good value for money that customers are seeking.

Ultimately the aspirations of customers and the inspiration of many worktop manufacturers comes from the top end of the worktop range.  The colours of granite and quartz, and the flexibility of bespoke solid surface form the ideals for surface products.

These ambitions are then interpreted as faithfully as possible in line with the budget and practicalities of the customer.
