GDHA makes buying British easy
Appliance manufacturer leads the way with quality British products
Published:  12 July, 2011

Kitchen appliance manufacturer, Glen Dimplex Home Appliances (GDHA), is leading the way in helping UK consumers buy the very best of British. After committing to manufacturing as many of its Stoves, Belling and New World products as possible in the UK, the company is now also heading a campaign to establish an official seal of approval for British-made products.

Research by Stoves found that buying British can be a confusing exercise for many UK consumers, with half claiming not to know which products are truly British and two thirds calling for an official ‘Made in Britain’ seal.

As a result, Stoves teamed up with an MP, plus independent Made in Britain champions, BuyBritish.co.uk, to campaign for a standardised ‘Made In Britain’ marque to be used on British-made products. Students across the UK were invited to design the marque and the campaign has even been discussed in the House of Commons.

GDHA recently revealed that 90% of its cooking products across the Stoves, Belling and New World brands are now being produced at its Merseyside base and a host of new British made products have just been added to the collections.

Adding to the Stoves built-in collection is a new range of ovens and hobs featuring the aesthetic of the highly popular Stoves Sterling range cooker. The built-in single and double ovens and 70cm built-under double oven all feature Sterling’s sleek and sturdy handles and control knobs. The range also includes four gas hobs and one ceramic electric hob.

And for consumers who love the style of range cookers but are restricted on space, Stoves has launched four Stoves Sterling Mini Range models. The free-standing 60cm cookers have a contemporary range-style aesthetic - a unique proposition for the UK consumer - and are available in dual fuel, gas, electric and even with an induction model.

GDHA has also become the first company to be approved and recommended by the Energy Saving Trust (EST) across freestanding, built-in and range cooking products.

Leading the way in the production of energy saving appliances, almost 100 products across all three of GDHA’s cooking brands, Stoves, Belling and New World, have undergone hours of testing against EST’s strict criteria set by an independent panel. They have been judged to be amongst some of the most energy efficient on the market, with a limited environmental impact and reduced running costs.

GDHA’s refrigeration brand Lec also has a range of A and A+ rated products that are approved by the Energy Saving Trust.

Steve Dickson, Commercial Manager for Stoves and Belling at GDHA, said: “There is clearly an appetite out there for quality British-made products.  As the only remaining UK based manufacturer of appliances across all cooking categories, we are proud to be playing a role in helping consumers to buy British.”
