DURAVIT – making life in the bathroom more beautiful
Published:  12 April, 2011

At ISH 2011, Duravit presented a veritable cavalcade of products offering design, innovative functionality and new ideas for the bathroom.

Esplanade

In collaboration with the German-Russian architect, Sergei Tchoban, Esplanade is a new series consisting of ceramic, furniture and bathtubs. Named after the grand streets in France, the designer harks back to the 18th and 19th centuries when bathroom furnishings were still regarded as furniture and thus the various elements feature generous dimensions and soft forms. The bathtub resembles a chaise longue, the toilet an antique chair and the wash basin with vanity a chest of drawers.

Available in two striking colours, dark wood 'Oak' and a high quality white varnish called ‘Silk’, the furniture has distinctive handles: dark brown loops made of genuine, hand-sewn leather in high-quality chrome surrounds.

St. Trop

A first from Philippe Starck – St. Trop is a combined shower and steam cabin with sleek lines and intuitive operation. With elegant dimensions of less than one metre square the door is akin to a large-scale picture frame available in all 27 Duravit furniture colours. Complete with sculptural white stool the user is framed within the cabin, creating a natural work of beauty.

Nahho

The Nahho flotation bath by EOOS is the ultimate home spa indulgence with options including lighting, a whirlpool system and underwater music. All the fittings are concealed under a hinged cover, in white or matt graphite finish, to ensure that the design lines are as calming as the weightless floating experience.

The sound module uses Bluetooth to establish a connection with an MP3 player and, with the side of the bath acting as a sounding body, transmits music via structure-borne converters allowing it to be enjoyed both above and below water.

OpenSpace

As the name suggests, OpenSpace, does exactly that in the bathroom - it opens up the space when not used for showering. Created by Viennese based EOOS Design, this clever shower partition is folded away after use, transforming it into discreet wall panels and enabling greater freedom of movement. The two glass screens, one of which can be mirrored, tidily conceal tap fittings, shower attachments, shower gels and shampoos when folded back against the wall.
