Mira Showers showcase latest digital valve designs
Published:  12 April, 2011

In respect of the latest digital showers, Mira’s Platinum is bristling with innovations to make showering an even more pleasurable experience.

It can be programmed to allow a number of functions to be set including shower duration, maximum and minimum temperatures and flow rates, as well as a warm up mode and eco mode. There’s even a clock display to keep an eye on the time.

The shower uses radio frequency (RF) communication between the interface and control valve. This makes installation simpler, provides the freedom to locate the interface almost anywhere and also permits the use of additional interfaces which can be mounted outside of the cubicle, allowing the user to ‘warm’ the shower to the desired temperature prior to entry.

Mira’s latest diverter offer is the Discovery & Diverter. Consisting of the Discovery thermostatic in‐wall mixer shower with new diverter technology, the shower allows the user to switch between outlets. It is compatible with a range of Mira shower and bath fittings which the consumer to customize the shower room by using the valve with a combination of different style and performance elements. For instance, the Discovery & Diverter valve can be combined with a prestige deluge head and hand shower, or, for flexibility in the bathroom, can divert between shower and bath fill using one of a selection of matching bath spouts developed to complement the new product.

With the amendments to Part G of the Building Regulations now well upon us, Mira has improved its Verve Bath Shower Mixer (BSM), which has now been certified to BuildCert TMV2. This ensures that it meets the amendments that set maximum temperature limits for water delivered to baths. It is ideal for those looking for a straightforward solution to adding a shower facility to an existing bath, with the added benefit of providing thermostatic bath fill too. There are two versions: one designed for wall mount installations, and the second includes deck mount connectors so the BSM can also be mounted on the bath.

Water saving is also critical these days, and Mira’s Eco showerhead provides an accessory option that can potentially reduce the amount of water normally used by up to a massive 75% (compared to a standard Logic showerhead at 0.5 bar pressure) without compromising the showering ‘experience’.

The ‘ecoefficient™’ technology uses the Venturi principle, by which air is introduced into the flow without a pump. Mixing air with the water spray creates larger droplets filled with air bubbles. The droplets explode on impact and produce similar coverage to conventional, finer sprays giving the impression of increased volume of water and a refreshing shower. Not only does this offer huge savings in water, but in energy too – as less hot water needs to be heated.

The adjustable showerhead also provides a choice of three aerating spray modes – Start, Soothe and Force – which allow the user to ‘customize’ their shower ‘experience’.
