Every Cloud brings a silver lining!

It goes without saying that excellent sales skills are one of the keys to the success of any KBB Business……..but ignore efficiency at one’s peril!

With today’s economic climate, KBB Businesses need to deliver more with less and over the last twenty five years, the IT industry has provided the means with which to help achieve this with the evolution of CAD , manufacturing solutions and specialist business management systems. These do though come at a price to both purchase and maintain and possibly the need for upgraded hardware.

There is still a long way to go and one of the major areas that need to be addressed is that the industry should be working more closely together to achieve real and meaningful efficiencies on both sides.

Suppliers have gone some way in addressing this, for example, by investing in online ordering systems but unfortunately this leaves the poor KBB retailer having to trawl through a combination of several sites and maybe a few catalogues (possibly with out of date data) to fulfil a single project. Not particularly efficient!

With the emergence of Cloud Computing (remotely hosted applications and storage)it is now possible for IT companies to offer solutions to KBB retailers and suppliers whereby not only can all product data can be accessed through a single portal with the suppliers having instant access for updates but the applications to run the KBB businesses more efficiently can also be hosted by secure remote servers at a significant fraction of the traditional costs and offering huge benefits in efficiency.

Cloud computing is an exciting step in the evolution of IT and there is no doubt the KBB sector would do well to embrace it and hugely benefit from the multifarious business benefits it can offer!
