In 2005 Impulse Bathrooms decided to get its 4.5/3 Tribune WC suite and EVO flush valve WRAS approved.
The net result of this effort and expenditure was ‘practically zero’ according to general manager Gary Hawkins. He says the Tribune suite sells very well because it is compact with only 615mm projection, looks neat and smart and is competitively priced.
“The vast majority of retailers and most likely their customers have very little interest in its ability to save water,” says Gary “The certification expired in October last year and we will not be renewing. While WRAS certification is a guarantee of materials, quality and performance, it would appear that the market does not consider this accreditation necessary and does not take it into account when specifying.
“In these times of economic constraint, it would appear to be an unnecessary expense. The industry should insist it applies to all or none.”
