Recent energy price hikes and the new year increase in VAT have made us all think again about our finances. We are all having to seek out that elusive concept of ‘value for money’ and it will be more common than ever for consumers to shop around, to compare prices and product specifications using the web, and to challenge their first quote.
Bathrooms are not a frequent purchase but consumers still look hard for their best buy. They want value for money but this can mean different things to different people. Some will go for the all-out up-front low budget bathroom searching the internet, supermarkets and super-stores. Others will look further ahead for a bathroom investment which will pay them back over time and this is where stockists with a broad range of water-efficient products with well-known brands will win out.
The savvy consumer will use the BMA’s Water Efficient Product Labelling Scheme (WEPLS) and its new Water Calculator to look for reliable and energy efficient digital or electric showers, water efficient WCs and baths, and new eco-click taps. These products go on saving utility charges year on year.
Yvonne Orgill, CEO of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association told BKU “our members are raising the value for money bar in creating bathrooms which fulfil the very latest consumer needs. In the future it will be those products which give real value for money which will be the most sought after.”
