Mira’s new Platinum...with a twist
Published:  18 January, 2011

The wireless digital Platinum – from Mira Showers, the UK’s leading manufacturer of showering products and accessories – takes showering technology to new heights and is bristling with innovations to make showering an even more pleasurable experience, literally at the touch of a button.

The Platinum can be programmed to allow a number of functions to be set including shower duration, maximum and minimum temperatures and flow rates, as well as a warm up mode and eco mode. There’s even a clock display to keep an eye on the time.

The new digital shower uses radio frequency (RF) communication between the interface and control valve. This makes installation simpler, provides the freedom to locate the interface almost anywhere and also permits the use of additional interfaces which can be mounted outside of the cubicle, allowing the user to ‘warm’ the shower to the desired temperature prior to entry.

Installation could not be simpler with either ceiling or rear fed fittings available, and a choice of valves – a high pressure valve for mains pressurised systems or combination boilers or a pumped valve for low pressure or gravity fed systems – to choose from. Such is the flexibility of Platinum that the valve can be sited somewhere discrete be it in the loft, under a bath or other convenient location up to 10 metres from the controller.

A new packaged incarnation of the Platinum sees it paired with Mira’s innovative 360 showerhead which delivers four spray modes, chosen by the user by just flipping the head through four quarter-turns of 900 each. Each quarter-turn ‘flip’ changes the spray pattern: so users can enjoy the ‘rain’, be invigorated by the ‘burst’, get drenched by the ‘storm’ and luxuriate in the ‘cloud’.

The 360 Showerhead’s FlipstreamTM technology uses a diverter mechanism in the head to vary the spray pattern according to its position. Simply rotating the head about its axis instantly changes the water flow from one spray pattern to the next. The range is available in three different design models – the 360m, the 360r and 360i – all of which can be used with any system and all pressures, giving the user the opportunity to transform and revitalise their showering.
