English Renaissance?
Comment by JOE CAVANI Managing Director, Edwin Loxley
Published:  13 December, 2010

The success of Edwin Loxley over the last 11 years would suggest that their Founder and Managing Director, Joe Cavani, is very well placed to give an overview of where the UK kitchen industry is heading for 2011.

“I very much get the feeling that when the going gets tough even people at the high end of the market place look for substance in a product rather than simply buying into a brand based on marketing perceptions alone.

With many of the English in-frame brands; in particularly some of the smaller players in the industry, people genuinely are getting value for money. Quite often, these companies offer bespoke manufactured solutions, rather than an overpriced ‘off the shelf’ European product that’s been replicated in countless other homes.

The public are starting to recognise that they could either pay over the odds for a high profile, European brand featuring melamine and chipboard or considerably less, in most instances, for a home grown product featuring high quality materials and a build quality that will see the furniture last far longer.

We have started to overcome the perception that an English in-frame solution must be ‘a tree with a hinge’ since besides traditional designs, there are some beautifully sleek and detailed contemporary designs out there and if a customer can’t find one they like, we English bespoke manufacturers will design and make one just for them!”

Properdoorhungtechnique …….as they don’t say (or indeed do) in Germany!
