Today’s consumers more discerning than ever before

In the current economic climate, many are looking for quality appliances with a good combination of features along with reliability, durability and affordability and the environment is a rising concern for ecological and financial reasons. But today’s consumers are more discerning than ever before.

The modern lifestyle demands convenience and therefore time-saving products which are easy to clean and easy to control are highly desired. The demand for self-cleaning ovens will reach a new level in the next couple of years and self-cleaning in washing machines will become more commonplace as more of us regularly wash clothes at lower temperatures.

The utility room more often now provides a home for functional, freestanding laundry and refrigeration appliances to pave the way for the modern ‘statement’ kitchen, uncluttered and integrated with clean lines.

Today’s kitchens are more about space and sophistication – visually impactful with a refined and charismatic, elegant, co-ordinated and uncomplicated style. And the European influence of banking appliances is continuing to emerge as other built-in appliances, such as microwaves and coffee makers become more widely available.

With the growing obesity crisis in the UK, demand for healthy cooking is on the increase, so hobs with wok burners are popular although induction is the future of hob cooking, and particular attention will focus on steam ovens – unbeatable for greater retention of nutrients and taste - in the year ahead.
