2010 has been quite a year of innovation for leading wetroom company Impey UK, with several new products released in both the healthcare and luxury shower markets.
In true Impey style, the company has created a couple of brand new wetroom shower floor formers that it believes will prove to be extremely popular additions to its ‘Aqua-Systems’ wetroom range.
The new ‘Decs’ are designed to make life much easier for the installer and offer greater flexibility to the developer and architect – not to mention more choice for the designer.
The first ground-breaking development comes in the form of Aqua-Dec Advance. Pushing the boundaries of wetroom shower floor former technology, this product offers a weight saving of at least 28% over the original Aqua-Dec design, while retaining all of the strength and rigidity of its predecessor. This obviously makes handling the product a great deal easier for the installer, with obvious time-saving benefits.
The most impressive feature of Aqua-Dec Advance however, is its variable-position drainage point. All too often when fitting shower trays, baths and wetroom floor formers on timber floors the position of joists and other under-floor obstructions such as pipe-work or electrical cables can prove a real headache for the installer. This is not the case when fitting Aqua-Dec Advance.
A.D.A. is 22mm thick and features a separate 450mm plate which itself has an offset drain outlet. The installer can set the ‘Dec down in almost any location and then to avoid any under floor obstructions they simply rotate the plate to the desired position to line up with the waste trap below before securing it all into place.
Early feedback from installers has been extremely encouraging, with comments including:-
• Easy to handle
• Much lighter than the standard former, while retaining that ‘solid’ sound and feel
• Very easy to cut on site
• Simple installation of the gully
• Suited to both timber and concrete installation, so no need to select different formers to suit the setting
Aqua-Dec Advance is initially available in 4 sizes (mm): 1200x900, 1500x1200, 1650x750, 1050x1050 and is supplied with a horizontal waste trap with 50mm water seal and adjustable outlet, and stainless steel gully cover.
The next offering from Impey is Aqua-Dec Linear 2, a unique wetroom shower floor former with a stylish linear drain and just 2 gradients to the drain.
At 22mm thick and with a tough GRP composite construction the purpose of this product is to offer a stylish alternative for the interior designer and to make life easier for the tiler.
When using large format tiles on wetroom shower floors there can often be difficulties in achieving the perfect ‘envelope’ cuts to the corners of the drain, but with Aqua-Dec Linear 2 only straight cuts are required, saving time while still producing fantastic looking results.
Aqua-Dec Linear 2 is available in sizes (mm): 1200x900, 1000x1000, 900x900
