Salamander’s solution to water conservation
Published:  02 September, 2010

The principle behind Part G of the building regulations cannot be questioned, given the need to better conserve water supplies, particularly critical in London and the home counties. The national average is 150 litres per person per day and the government target is to reduce that to 130 litres.

Shower pump manufacturers are in a position to keep the consumer happy without compromising on performance with the use of water-saving devices.

But what happens to the pressure when such a device is fitted – particularly when there isn’t much pressure there in the first place? Flow regulators or limiting devices will do their job irrespective of how much water is coming into them; a shower pump will ensure there is still pressure behind the flow.

The fitting of a shower pump will give consumers their performance needs in terms of pressure while the flow regulators/restrictors will ensure that the flow does not exceed water efficiency standards.
