No longer just a practical addition to the bathroom, basins can actually be used to create a focal point

Trends in basin design have seen a shift over the last year or so, and I would say this is almost entirely due to the economy and consumers becoming more aware of choosing products that will stand the test of time; and ultimately will be more saleable when they come to put their home on the market.

Where we were seeing a rising trend for coloured sanitaryware 18 months ago, this has now almost entirely dropped away, leaving the classic appeal of clean white basins to take precedence once again.

The design possibilities in this sector are endless. No longer just a practical addition to the bathroom, basins can actually be used to enhance a setting and create a focal point. Duo- basins are currently very popular, as are curvaceous designs that lend the bathroom a soft, organic yet contemporary edge.

Houses, particularly new build, are becoming smaller and as such the bathrooms and en-suites have to deliver in terms of functionality but within less space. As such there has been a surge in basin design with integral furniture or hidden drawers that offer storage without taking over the room.

Functionality remains at the forefront of any purchasing decision but style and aesthetics are becoming equally as important to consumers. Thankfully, a compromise doesn’t have to be made at either end as there is an unrivalled selection of basins on the market that boast stylish aesthetics, extreme reliability, superior durability and most importantly effortless functionality.
