Geberit has opened a new logistics centre to ensure it can continue to respond with speed and efficiency as the number of orders the manufacturer receives continues to grow.
Located in Pfullendorf, Germany, the centre lies in the middle of all the European destinations supplied with Geberit products, placing it firmly in the heart of the company’s operation.
The centre has 14 pick-and-pack stations for the fast processing of orders, aided by the latest computer technology in the form of Lydia, a program which aids order picking through voice recognition. Employees are linked by headset and microphone enabling them to call up the required products for packing using a fully automated delivery system from the high-bay racking storage area.
Lydia also assists in efficient packing of products, with tips on clever stacking reducing the number of pallets required, leading to more effective and less expensive utilisation of the delivery vehicles.
