EGGER again raises the bar with exciting new textures and finishes
Published:  13 August, 2010

EGGER has updated its UK collection with a new range of decors which raise the bar once again. Product manager Andrew Sanderson explains why this year’s introductions are the best yet

“We are moving into a new era for melamine-faced chipboard reproductions and continue to invest in textures and finishes in order to move the product closer and closer to the look and feel of solid wood and veneer. We are extremely confident that some of the new decors can be future best sellers, following the excellent feedback they received from over 80 customers during our annual in-house EGGERZUM exhibition which has been taking place since March”.

Next generation woodgrains

In keeping with EGGER’s recent trend for updating their classic designs, new Ash, Oak and Cherry designs have been introduced. Brown Cassino Ash (H1215 ST22) features a blend of dark, pronounced and open shadow pores along with deep texture to create a decor with real depth. The elegant Natural Aragon Oak (H1372 ST22) has a highly defined, natural grain, with cross-fires and subtle planking, while Light Venetian Cherry (H3660 ST9) is a contemporary, linear design with widespread commercial appeal. In line with the consumer trend for more individuality, two eye-catching expressive woods have also been added to the range. Coco Bolo (H3012 ST22) meets the need for striking yet natural exotic reproductions; while Mali Wenge (H3058 ST22) sets a new benchmark for woodgrain reproductions with its realistic three-dimensional character.

Trend orientated uni colours

With uni colours taking centre stage at all of the major furniture exhibitions this year, EGGER has introduced five new trend orientated shades.

Stone Grey (U727 ST9) is a premium, sophisticated uni colour which complements EGGER’s brown/grey colour palette and is highly versatile.

Quartz Silk (F436 ST2) and Quartz Champagne (F573 ST2) off-white decors have been printed using pearlescent inks to provide a metallic, high value appearance.

Furthermore, EGGER has introduced its brightest white to date in line with the continued trend for this shade in furniture and interior design. Alpine White (W1100) is available in two textures as standard - Gloss Finish (ST30) and Perfect Matt (ST9).

Matching ABS edging

Each of EGGER’s new decors are ideal for use as MFC doors which can offer the premium look at an entry level price and appeal to the increasingly thrifty consumer.

All 10 decors added to the UK standard range are now available with 23 x 2mm ABS edging. For those wishing to create MFC doors, EGGER will offer 23 x 2mm cross-grain ABS edging from stock at Hexham for the new woodgrains.

Cross-grain edging can take the product to the next level of realism and create a wrap-around optic for doors with a horizontal grain.
