Symbolising the savings that can be achieved by use of water-saving products such as Cistermiser’s Sensazone which was launched at Ecobuild, the company ran a competition inviting visitors to identify buckets of money (‘gold’ coins filled with chocolate).
The winner Ashley Kuchanny from Lifespring Services works closely with the Lifespring Foundation, a charity helping widows, orphans and vulnerable families in Kenya and Zambia to deal with the problems of extreme poverty and the effects of HIV/AIDS. Ashley pledged the whole of the £500 prize money to this very worthwhile charity. It seems entirely appropriate that it should go to benefit an area of Africa which suffers from endemic, if seasonal, water shortages.
Sensazone is designed to control water supply to all washroom appliances. A ceiling mounted intelligent infrared sensor controls hot, cold and grey or rain water supply, turning them on only when the movement of someone entering the washroom is detected and cuts off the supply after a set time.
