Rainshower® Next Generation Scores GROHE a Hat-trick!
Following a hugely successful year, the Rainshower® Next Generation Collection has received another three design accolades, further strengthening GROHE’s reputation as market leaders.
Published:  26 July, 2010

D&AD Annual Inclusion

The first is the achievement of the “in-book” status at the D&AD (Design & Art Direction) Awards 2010. This means that the GROHE Rainshower® Next Generation showers will appear in the latest edition of the renowned D&AD Annual. To achieve this, at least 50 percent of the international jury must have voted in favour of the products being included in the Yearbook based on criteria such as originality and inspiration, good execution and, last but not least, relevance.

IDEA: Turning an Idea into an Award-winner

IDEA stands for great ideas receiving international recognition in the International Design Excellence Awards. The award is given annually by the IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America) in different categories of modern industrial design ranging from communications and entertainment to recreation and office environments to packaging and transport. GROHE was successful in 2010 and won the ISDA’s bronze medal for its Next Generation Rainshowers.

I.D. Annual Design Review: The Design of the Year

The I.D. Annual Design Review 2010 lists the three showers of the GROHE Rainshower® Next Generation as “Honorable Mention Winners”. Since 1954, the International Design Magazine has singled out the best designs in the fields of product, furniture, graphics and environment. Each year, the featured work is chosen by a jury of leading practitioners, who, along with I.D.'s editorial team, focus the abundance of submissions into a clear survey of the state of design.

“The fact that the showers of the Rainshower® Next Generation – Icon, Eco and Solo – are so well received by jury members at the most diverse international design competitions is very encouraging for our team,” says Paul Flowers, Senior Vice President Design of Grohe AG. “They represent our modern product range, which combines design with sustainable technologies and maximum functionality.”

Apart from their extravagant shapes and the fresh green and white colours, the showers offer an important ecological feature in the form of the GROHE EcoButton, which reduces water consumption by up to 40 percent without compromising on performance.

The first six months were a big success for the three showers; particularly Rainshower Icon, which saw GROHE launch a limited collection in a further six inspiring colours.
