Bristan Group has bid a fond farewell to Steve Lee who, after 19 years with the company, has stepped down as chairman.
Steve joined Bristan in 1991 and was instrumental in growing the business after leading a management buy out in 1997.
Under his direction, Bristan grew from a small business with eight people to a multi-million pound success which attracted the interest of Masco, the US global home products group. Steve sold the business to Masco in 2002 but stayed on as CEO, steering Bristan through a merger with other Masco-owned brands including Heritage and Gummers to create the Bristan Group. He became chairman in 2008.
Steve said: “I have watched this company grow from a small family business to the fine organisation it is today. I am very proud to have been part of this journey. I know that with the continued investment from Masco and the careful stewardship of CEO Jeremy Ling and his team, I leave the company in very safe hands. I wish everyone all the very best as Bristan Group enters an exciting new era.”
In a tribute to Steve, Bristan Group CEO Jeremy Ling, said: “Steve's leadership and passion for the Bristan Group has been the heart of our success. Under Steve's guidance and management the company has become the market leader in taps in the UK and he has helped us build a very strong industry position by re-writing the rule book in terms of our service proposition. Not only is Steve a true professional, but his style and manner makes him immediately likeable, trusted and respected by colleagues, competitors and customers alike. We wish him all the best for the future. He will be greatly missed.”
