Bold Brassware by Ideal Standard
Published:  09 May, 2008

"There are various issues other than good looks when it comes to tap trends - it is now just as important to consider issues such as eco-friendliness, easy access and safety. The good news is that a lot of taps can fulfil this criteria. "It is not only about style and being on-trend but also about function," says Robin Levien, Royal Designer for Industry and esteemed bathroom design guru. "From a style point of view the cool minimal geometric look is dominating the world of taps at the moment, but progressive change is coming to address concerns over the environment and our ageing population."

Created by award-winning design house ArteFakt, the fluid lines of Ideal Standard's latest collection Melange brings contemporary style to any bathroom, combining the popular geometric springboard look with beautifully rounded curves to create an understated elegance. Harsh angles are smoothed away in favour of gentle arcs to create contemporary, organic lines that are clean and minimal but soft and inviting. The 14 item-strong collection includes basin mixers (pictured right), bath fillers and thermostatic shower mixers, and will be available this Spring.

Since its launch last year, the award-winning Active range of taps has so far got two accolades to its name - the iF product design for 2007 and the Design Plus Award - and intelligent, sophisticated design makes it easy to see why. Attractive, tactile shapes are teamed with super userfriendly design to create a range of taps to suit every need, and taps can be fitted easily and rapidly thanks to Ideal Standard's Top Fix system which will save time and money on installation. Some pieces in the range benefit from CLICK cartridge technology, which can limit flow to 50% and also includes a hot water temperature limit. Active's key thermostatic bath and shower mixer which has been designed for extra safety, protecting against surges in water temperature to offer a safe, constant showering experience.
