The heat is on to come up with new ideas

When it comes to the heated towel rail, perceptions have been fixed for far too long. With the ‘sheds' feeding the proliferation of standard chrome multi-rails it is no wonder that in general this is where designs have been focussed, and retailers as a whole have been concentrating their efforts. It is time for manufacturers to start introducing new ideas to retailers and begin to encourage change.

Indeed, progressive manufacturers like Aestus are always looking to push the boundaries, to reinvigorate and stimulate interest amongst retailers where stagnant designs may have led to complacency, and to quash the belief that towel rail design has advanced as far as it can. To do this, manufacturers now have to ‘think outside the box' and concentrate on changing the fundamental components that contribute to their heated towel rail designs.

At Aestus, for example, we wanted to introduce the use of materials other than stainless steel or chrome; something totally different to what is currently on the market that would boost the towel rail from being often a bathroom afterthought into a functional centrepiece. Obviously heat output and functionality remain key but our new ‘elements' collection shows the retailer that the limitations of heated towel rails extend beyond industrial materials, even into natural stone. The use of genuine granite in heated towel rails perfectly exemplifies the kind of innovative product advancements manufacturers are making; provoking fresh interest and excitement from retailers and consumers alike.

To conclude, it is essential that the retailer begins to appreciate heated towel rails are capable of more. Design and development is advancing away from what has previously been thought of as possible and we are now seeing products that the retailer should certainly be exploiting. The consumer is always looking for something a bit different and interesting and with such inspirational pieces being launched, opportunity is now firmly in the retailers hands.
