  • The big issue
Comment by GARY HAWKINS, General Manager, Impulse Bathrooms
    Published:  04 March, 2010

So what is the big issue in bathrooms? As for just about any other industry today - it’s simply survival. Times are tough and will continue to be so. Money management considerations are affecting all stages of the supply chain and there are those who unfortunately will fail to survive - retailers, merchants, distributors - and some manufacturers may be forced to restructure in the downturn.

    Published:  04 March, 2010

In countries such as Australia where rainfall levels are much lower than in the UK, the need to save water has always been important, with the result that water saving WC’s have been a mandatory specification for over 3 years. With the planned introduction of water saving measures under Building Regulations Part G, the UK is at last beginning to realise the need to minimise water usage.

The new models are improved versions of the current Georgia and Element baths – the difference being that the new designs are crafted from one single piece of acrylic. • The future of bathroom design - it's in our hands
Comment by BEN GRAVE, Marketing Director, Impey
    Published:  08 June, 2009

We are all aware that the current trading conditions look set to continue, at least for the foreseeable future. New building work has been hit particularly hard by the current economic climate. The housing market is slowing with people deciding to renovate and refurbish their current homes rather than move. However, manufacturers of bathrooms that focus on inclusive design are currently weathering the financial storm. The UK's rapidly ageing population means that the need for a bathroom which brings together the functionality of healthcare bathing aids and the visual appeal of a luxury wetroom environment in one outstanding package will only increase.

  • Survival of the fittest
    Published:  17 March, 2009

Charles Darwin's 200th birthday celebrations during 2009 have come as a timely reminder that in the current tricky trading conditions it is a case of ‘survival of the fittest.'

In the bathroom industry, ‘fittest' means those companies that provide the very best in product innovation, exemplary quality, excellent installation and customer service will survive the downturn.  They will come through the difficulties stronger for it.

  • Enforcing standards
Comment by GARY HAWKINS, General Manager, Impulse Bathrooms
    Published:  17 March, 2009

We hear a lot about Standards and tend to congratulate ourselves on how good they are in the UK.  Whilst our Standards are high, there is a serious question mark over how much of the sanitaryware sold in the UK actually meets these laid down Standards.
