    The focus on water efficiency has meant that the brassware industry has taken stock of the functionality of products, their environmental credentials and now style. The average Briton drinks 2 to 5 litres of water a day and uses in excess of another 145 litres for cooking, cleaning, washing and flushing. However, because of the water used to manufacture products and cultivate food, our lifestyle means that the average Briton really consumes around 3,400 litres every day.

    The net result of this effort and expenditure was ‘practically zero’ according to general manager Gary Hawkins. He says the Tribune suite sells very well because it is compact with only 615mm projection, looks neat and smart and is competitively priced.

    How serious are we really about energy and water saving? Whilst there is certainly a committed nucleus of consumers who act on their environmental concerns, I would suggest that the CO2 and energy saving reduction has really only been successful because of the legislation which therefore gives people no option.
