Shades take pride in its vanity
At the centre of the action in the bathroom, a well designed vanity unit offers exciting design potential and plenty of storage to boot. There are three essential components to a well planned vanity – washbasins, storage and mirrors – and the addition of some well placed lighting (ideally at eye level) will also be much appreciated by the end user.

In recent months we have noticed that the natural warmth of wood-style finishes has been creeping back into the bathroom.

Although the presiding look is still quite simple and minimalist, the introduction of rich finishes in beech, natural oak and walnut (our Senesi range has been phenomenally popular since its launch earlier this year) are helping to create a bathroom space that’s more homely and less starkly modern.

In terms of size, there has been a definite move towards smaller vanities as people increasingly want a storage option in their en-suite or downstairs bathroom. The vanity cabinet makes the perfect hiding place for those cleaning bottles as well as the usual bathing paraphernalia that can clutter shelves in seconds if allowed! While many people like the look of freestanding vanity units, they certainly don’t appreciate their lack of stability. To solve this issue, we have created freestanding-look vanities, which have feet at the front (choose from chrome or timber finished in white, pear or oak), but is attached to the wall at the back so that it won’t wobble!

There’s no doubt that a vanity unit offers so much more than a boring pedestal or wall-hung basin and in today’s spacerestricted homes, every bathroom should have one.
