According to research recently carried out by the KBSA, more people purchased their new bathroom from a specialist retailer than any other source. 34% of people interviewed at the Grand Designs Exhibition held in Birmingham had chosen this option as oppose to a DIY shed, plumbers merchant or other option if they installed a new bathroom within the last five years.
The bathroom remains the second most important room in the home in terms of where people will spend money before they sell and 22% were considering buying a new bathroom within the next 3 or 6 months. Up to £5,000 was the most popular budget with 27% planning to spend between £5,000 and £10,000 and only 9% willing to spend between £20,000-£30,000.
A walk in wet room was identified as the product respondents most wanted in their home with 40% opting for this luxury item as oppose to a spa bath, free standing bath, power shower or multi purpose shower tower.
Ruth Ward, KBSA sales and marketing director comments: “This research validates our view that bathrooms are increasingly important to homeowners and that they are willing to spend money on quality products, design and service. We are delighted that the figures show that consumers are aware of the benefits of choosing to buy from a reputable specialist retailer.”
