Wetrooms and accessibility from ACO Building Drainage
Published:  08 November, 2007

Meeting the needs of people with mobility restrictions is now integral to the regulations covering the building of new homes. The standards covering the waterproofing and drainage of wetrooms, however, are not prescriptive, leaving the solution to the end user, manufacturer or installer.

Sheet vinyl flooring, such as Altro’s Marine 20 incorporating excellent slip resistance and antibacterial protection, creates both the wearing surface and the waterproofing element helping to minimise build times whilst providing an aesthetically pleasing finish.

Key to wetroom design is the efficient and leakfree removal of waste water using tried and tested point gullies and channels such as those manufactured by ACO Building Drainage. These typically feature integral flanges and heat weldable vinyl edges to make joining simple and effective, with the use of stainless steel alloys ensuring that each component has a long working life.

These latest products make it easier to design and build wetrooms that combine accessibility with style and quality; just as importantly, they ensure that every installation remains leak-free for many years.
