ROCA create bathroom design with a conscience
Published:  01 October, 2007

Roca’s design ethos is based on creativity, quality in manufacturing and technological excellence applied to water conservation. In today’s world Roca understands the importance of maintaining the natural balance of the environment. Therefore the manufacturer has created a selection of environmentally friendly ‘eco’ stop mechanisms for your bathroom so that you can do your bit to save water without compromising on style.

The innovative ‘Ecodisk’ cartridge is a flow restrictor as well as a temperature control system which allows you to choose between reduced or full flow water. As you raise the handle you will reach a level of resistance, which will allow 50% of the permitted flow of water. By lifting the lever the maximum flow of water will be achieved. This helps the environment by saving water and at the same time provides the customer with complete peace of mind by eliminating the chance of scalding.

One of Roca’s latest brassware ranges, Thesis - a stylish, design led tap series – is fully fitted with the EcoDisc cartridge. Design led, combining rounded curves and clean straight lines, Thesis offers a waterfall effect through a curtain spout and is manufactured to the highest quality by Roca’s skilled craftsmen. In addition to the EcoDisc, Thesis also includes a flow regulator with a limit of 8 litres per minute for further water conservation.

Roca’s Electronic taps use proximity detection to automatically stop the water flow. Each tap operates using alkaline batteries and saves 40% of the water usually lost. The Amura-N operates on mains power as standard but also has the option to run on batteries if this suits the application.

Alternatively, Roca’s Thermostatic taps, such as the Touch Deck Mounted 4-Hole Mixer Kit have built in flow restrictors and allow the tap to maintain a previously selected constant temperature and save 50% of the water.

An average cistern can hold 6 litres of water and each person flushes 10,800 litres of water per year. However not every flush requires the full amount, which is why Roca has created a selection of water conserving flushing mechanisms. The Double Flush (D2D) has two push buttons so that you can choose the amount of water flow needed and save an incredible 60% so only 4,320 litres of water are used per person per year.

Also available are Roca’s tap flow regulators and limiting valves that can be easily fitted into basin, bath shower, bidet mixers and showers to control the amount of water flow. The slimline Atai-T, (right) can be fitted with a limiting valve in the showerhead. Fitting one of these valves could save as much as 65% of water.
