Since the formation of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) in 2001, membership continues to grow to represent more than 87 per cent of major bathroom manufacturers who employ in excess of 13,000 people at 71 sites across the UK.
The BMA represents the interests of manufacturers at all levels offering a comprehensive range of services, which cover a broad spectrum of interests and products.
BMA Chief Executive Yvonne Orgill says: “Our organisation is extremely active and vibrant. Members derive a lot of benefit from their association with the BMA, which is reflected in their support of BMA initiatives.”
The prime objective of the BMA is to provide an independent forum for bathroom manufacturers trading in the UK to properly discuss and debate matters of mutual interest. In addition, the BMA thrives on the exchange of information with all avenues and acts as an information highway between Industry, Government and the consumer on issues that affect the Bathroom Industry.
The BMA also strives to enhance the competitive potential of member companies, promote quality products, excellent service and encourage innovation at all times.
The Association offers members representation and an influential voice on British and European Standards Committees, the ability to influence related trade bodies, invaluable market intelligence, lobbying and a voice within Government, plus a members’ only forum. The BMA is also the eyes, ears and voice on all Industry issues, with the press, members and Government regularly consulting the BMA for opinion and guidance.
Orgill continues: “Everything we do is intended to improve the Bathroom Industry as a whole, including the Bathroom Academy for example. BMA member companies want to ensure that the Bathroom Industry is strong and buoyant for years to come with a well trained and qualified workforce.”
Entry into the BMA is governed by strict membership criteria to guarantee adherence to a very high standard. All member-manufacturing companies must have been trading in UK for a minimum of two years and carry out or control design, development, raw material procurement, process of production or assembly, packaging and distribution. In addition, member companies must have best practice customer service departments in place.
The BMA is also involved in some very worthwhile projects such as promoting water efficiency, independent living and training. The Association also holds the bathroom industry’s only Annual Conference, which in 2007 will take place at the Oxford Belfry Hotel, Oxfordshire on October 29th and 30th.
