Alape presents a completely new and basinfree washstand at the 100% Design 2007 in London. The design’s entirely flat surfaces and concealed inlet and outlet mechanisms make for a functionality which is not immediately apparent.
This concept reflects changing washplace usage patterns and provides scope for an unprecedented level of design precision and twodimensionality – and is now ready for production.
The progressive design of this freestanding washstand enables the water gushing from the tap to spread across the piece’s completely flat surface. From there, it flows outwards, through a groove just a few millimetres wide, to an invisible outlet. This design turns water back into a feature – a phenomenon to be seen and experienced, instead of merely disappearing down a drain. Alape’s patented operational principle enables the creation of washstands whose integrated inlets and outlets are concealed within their slender legs.
