Bold colours boost buoyant market

The bathroom ceramics market remains buoyant and has recently been under the spotlight thanks to an influx of bold colours and unusual designs entering the market. Such designs have certainly generated renewed interest in the ceramics market but have they actually sold?

A small handful of daring consumers have welcomed coloured ceramics and the commercial market has embraced black sanitary ware which is now installed in almost every funky club, bar or restaurant but I maintain white ceramics are still and will always enjoy the biggest share of the market. Many manufactures are offering coloured sanitary ware somewhere in their portfolio and I think retailers could benefit from an exciting window display using such products to draw the customer in and highlight how colour can fit in to daily bathroom life but it is important that once the customer is inside there is a substantial offering of elegant white ceramics to maximise sale opportunity.

White doesn’t have to mean boring, if the design is right. Neither does it have to mean minimal nor clinical which is another interior scheme that the majority of consumers are apprehensive about buying in to and living with on a daily basis so displays need to demonstrate this and deck mounted basins teamed with beautiful furniture can be the answer.

In addition, consider carefully the brassware you choose to display with the ceramics as the wrong size or shape tap can really detract from a basin’s style while the correct tap can enhance it.
