Leading ceramics distributor selects ADP software
Published:  01 August, 2007

Square Foot Ceramics, a leading tile importer and distributor located in Surrey, supplies tiles predominantly to retailers. They recently opened a projects/contracts office geared towards servicing architects, specifiers, etc. in a variety of vertical markets but the company outgrew its existing software system in a shorter space of time than anticipated.

With 17,000 square feet premises and employing 15 staff, Square Foot offers quality tiles at competitive prices, with excellent stock availability and rapid delivery. Customer service is key and this was a pivotal point when considering a new business management solution.

“We needed a solution that could cope with, amongst other things: detailed stock control; the ability to handle and manage a wide mix of tile units e.g. m2, each, carton and pallets; multi-currency purchasing; multiple sales transaction methods; full accounts and comprehensive reporting facilities, all in a networked environment,” commented Scott Williams, Managing Director. “From my 15 years experience in the tile industry, I knew there was only one choice and that was ADP Commercial Systems’ K8,” he continued.

Square Foot Ceramics also elected to take ADP’s HSP (Hardware Service Provision), where ADP provides the required computer processing and data storage resource to run K8 (all on highly resilient, leading-edge computer server and storage technology). HSP is not only cost effective, but offers the flexibility and peace of mind to quickly add computer resource as the business grows.

“We consciously selected K8 on HSP to give the day-to-day management of our systems to experts, who not only have the know-how, but the state-of-the-art technological infrastructure. We save the cost of hiring IT staff for the business, and we have the opportunity to quickly upscale our systems without any disruption, as our organisation expands,” explained Scott.

“ADP is well known in the tile industry and K8 offers the opportunity to embrace other existing functionality should we wish to use it e.g. CRM, transport planning and warehousing – in short everything we want and need both now and in the future,” he added.
