The Bath from Ideal Standard
Published:  01 August, 2007

Designed by Anna Dabrowski at Studio Levien in London, The Bath represents the ultimate in freestanding luxury bathing. Inspired by the Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Chair, the design team at Studio Levien have created “The Bath” to be simply beautiful and beautifully simple.

The 170cm x 75cm Idealcast bath has no tap deck and features a very simple narrow rim around its whole circumference. This makes the bath visually delicate and also leads to the internal bathing space being maximised (645mm at the widest point).

The Bath takes advantage of the strength and lightness of Ideal- Standard’s own Idealcast material – a resin mineral composite cast onto an acrylic shell to give the kind of rigidity usually associated with cast iron. Such a narrow rim (50mm) can only be achieved with this kind of strength.

The Bath is available in two versions, either with Wave legs made from polished stainless steel, or aeroply Trestle legs (10 layers topped by a maple laminate stain tinted lacquer).
