So what is the big issue in bathrooms? As for just about any other industry today - it’s simply survival. Times are tough and will continue to be so. Money management considerations are affecting all stages of the supply chain and there are those who unfortunately will fail to survive - retailers, merchants, distributors - and some manufacturers may be forced to restructure in the downturn.
The sensible retailer is looking carefully at his business strategy to make sure his company survives. He needs suppliers who are safe themselves - those he is confident provide the necessary services and spares. Its no good having even a low cost display in your showroom if you can’t get the product when that all important customer is ready to place an order and wants delivery quickly - and what would it cost you to replace that display suite?
Once you come down the special offer, low cost bathroom route, it is very difficult to put prices up again when the market turns up.
Overreacting to price pressure is not a long-term business strategy - winning business with no profit is bad for your business in the longer term.
Choose brands who are investing in the future and can help you for your future.
Let’s hope the KBB Show will be a good one which would give the bathroom business a well earned boost.
