Movement tolerant seals from DR Services
Published:  06 November, 2009

DR-y Seal from DR services is a means of dealing with the problems linked to structural movement in buildings, which can sometimes cause cracks to open up around bathroom ware.

The product is formed from a 70 mm wide flexible strip of rubber which is fully bonded to a 40 mm wide layer of butyl adhesive. The installer simply peels back short lengths of the silicon release paper so that the high grab seal can be pressed against the outside face of the shower tray or other fitting.

Both straight and curved or faceted surfaces can be addressed with equal ease and the rubber membrane remains perpendicular as the tray is slid into position against the wall. Installation of the ceramic wall tiles or waterproof panels then continues in the normal way. The edge perimeter seal is completed by applying a bead of the special silicon provided.

Importantly, DR-y Seal can accommodate vertical movement of up to 15 mm to make full allowance for either structural settlement or drying shrinkage.
