Surface materials distributor IDS has just chalked up another impressive achievement in its Health and Safety record, for an entire 12 month period without a single Lost Time Accident.
Lost Time Accidents, an industry recognised term, are classed as any work-related injury that causes an individual to lose 24 hours of work following the day of the accident. Between July 2008 and August 2009, IDS reduced its accident rate from 5.7 on the previous period to zero.
Says Chris Whitlock, Operations Director at IDS: "In a distribution business with 385 employees, 10 regional branches, over 100 vehicles on the road daily and more than 12,000 product lines to stock and distribute, this is no mean feat to achieve since an LTA can be as simple as stubbing a toe on a desk."
