Modern living demands the ‘wow' factor from designers of heating and ventilation appliances

The design of radiators and towel warmers has taken an interesting turn in recent years, with design houses such as Hotech launching models that replicate works-of-art. These dramatic creations combine both practicality, reliability but most importantly, aesthetic inspiration. They play their part in heating the room and while some models can be used to stylishly hang towels or bath robes, their main purpose is to add that all important ‘wow' factor.

Colour has played an important role in radiator design recently and the latest additions can be seen in opulent Gold and subtle Silver tones. Stone has also gained popularity due to its fantastic ability to retain heat well after the appliance has been turned off. Granite is renowned for its organic and beautiful appearance and can be used to add colour to the room as well as brilliant warmth. These new statement design pieces do not lack in output and so can be used independently of other heating devices.

This is not to say that there is no longer a place in the market for more practical heating styles, in the bathroom especially. Those with smaller rooms need a towel warmer to double up as a storage device where the family's towels can be hung and dried. The great thing about the heating market now is that there is a plethora of choice; from the artistic and acquired models to the standard yet stylish stainless steel ladder radiator, thus proving that we really have moved away almost entirely from the plain white painted panel rads of yester-year.
