Attention to Mirrors and Mirrored cabinets a reflection of consumer demands
Comment by STEVE KAYE, Marketing Director, HiB
Published:  03 September, 2009

The bathroom mirror and bathroom mirrored cabinet have very much come of age says HiB's Steve Kaye. It was not that long ago that buying either one of these items was somewhat of an afterthought once the main suite had been ordered.

Nowadays designers and manufacturers have turned their attention to the mirror and the mirrored cabinets both in terms of form and function so that these products become focal points of the whole bathroom environment and chosen as much for their aesthetic value as they are for the performance advantages they offer.

Kaye says that technology has progressed to the extent that add-on items such as shaver sockets on cabinets, back lighting and LED lighting on mirrors, bonded shelves and soft close hinges are now standard, integrated features. De-mist systems and touch switches are also modern features that have now become ‘must-have' items. Customers are looking for a value added product that looks good and performs well. Trends are for simplicity and clean lines - geometric shapes embellished with bevelled edges and mirror-on-glass effects. Cabinet choices offer multiple door designs with angle facades and integrated and overhead lighting. Another trend is for the placing of multiple mirrors in bathrooms for their light reflective properties and dual mirrored cabinets for the same effect and additional storage which has always been in short supply in the conventional bathroom.
