Freestanding baths have become a key trend in upmarket bathrooms - and have a lot to offer both designers and retailers. Models from Victoria & Albert's extensive QUARRYCAST® range give designers the opportunity to create a stunning focal point in any bathroom, while for retailers there's valuable extra margin and the satisfaction of knowing that the customer is benefiting from ownership of a unique hand finished product with a 25 year guarantee.
Every Victoria & Albert bath and basin is made from 100% QUARRYCAST®, a superb material rich in natural volcanic limestone. By mixing this special mineral with resin, the company is able to create sleek one piece baths that are rock solid, warm to the touch and resistant to stains, abrasion and scratching. Naturally harder than acrylic alternatives due to its high stone content, just a light polish will maintain the beautiful lustre of this naturally white material.
The Premium collection includes the sleek Napoli, Amalfi, ios and Ravello designs which each offer unique, and subtly different, bathing experiences. Not just beautiful but also supremely comfortable, the Amalfi and Napoli models can be customised with supportive headrests to provide the ultimate in stress busting luxury. "Both these baths are shaped to offer good lumbar support - the headrests simply increase the comfort level and make them more adaptable for users of different sizes." says Marketing Manager Jonathan Carter. "Featuring location suckers to help secure in place, the Amalfi headrest can be positioned at any height up the extended back rest to suit the user. By contrast, the headrest for the low slung Napoli incorporates a contoured lip to locate it at rim level."
The new range of QUARRYCAST® basins for the Napoli, Ravello, Amalfi and ios baths has been helping retailers and designers to achieve beautifully co-ordinated bathroom schemes. "Featuring crisp lines and distinctive forms, our basins generate many creative opportunities as an exciting alternative to traditional ceramic," says Jonathan Carter. "Bathrooms are moving away from the old, rigid suites made in old fashioned materials towards more imaginative design - and feature basins and freestanding baths are taking centre stage. In a big bathroom, an imposing design such as the Amalfi or Napoli bath acts as a centre point for the overall design. In a smaller space, compact single piece models like our 'big-small' ios can actually make the room seem larger because there is free space around it. The old bathroom suite with its panelled bath and basin on a pedestal is becoming a thing of the past as design moves towards the freer, more original look that can be achieved with freestanding baths and feature basins.
