Stonell's tips for specifying a natural stone floor
Published:  04 August, 2009

There will always be a perfect type of natural stone that can go almost anywhere in the home. The skill is to select the correct stone, as each product has different attributes with its own benefits or disadvantages. Ensuring that the advice given is correct is ever more crucial. Every stone tile has its own unique properties and, as such, requires its own specific advice.

  1. Tell the supplier where the stone is going (e.g. inside/outside or kitchen/bathroom)
  2. Select the stone at the beginning of the project, before paint colour or textiles
  3. Visit a showroom to see more than one tile laid and grouted
  4. Ensure you have a realistic idea about natural colour variation
  5. Get specific advice about protecting and maintaining the stone
